The photos you choose for your online dating profile are incredibly important, especially for making a good first impression. Find an outfit that fits well and makes you feel confident, and make sure it reflects your personal style. Avoid anything too revealing or casual, and stay away from the clichéd dating-app pics like selfies and shots of you with your friends. If you put effort into finding the perfect outfit, your profile will stand out and attract matches.
First impressions are everything. What you look like and what you wear are often the first things people notice when they see you for the first time – online dating photos are no different. So, what do you do if you're looking for a new date? Here's a list of tips and tricks for getting the most out of your online photo.
1. Wear your first date outfit.
The first image that should appear when someone is viewing your profile is the outfit that you would ideally like to wear for a first date.
One of the photos in your profile should illustrate your lifestyle and what you would wear on a first date with a person. The outfit should reflect style, effort and occasion of the first date. I recommend wearing your best outfit that fits well and is complimentary to your eye color.
With that said, you don’t want to go over the top with looks to suggest you can’t take queues from the date occasion. If you plan on going on a walk in the park, wearing a suit or a cocktail dress wouldn't match the occasion. If you are going for drinks at a fancy bar, collared button shirt (rolled up sleeves or not) and/or blazer is a good look.
In general, you want to show you took the time to get ready and plan this out. You don’t want to seem like you didn’t have time to go home and get ready after work. Similarly, you don’t want to dress up too much and seem out of place where you are going.
2. Avoid Neutral Colors
We are naturally attracted to bold, bright colors in photos. Neutral colors offer no contrast and does not allow your photos to jump from the page. If possible, avoid patterns as they are distracting. Solids are your best friends for grabbing attention in your dating photos. The best colors to wear, are colors that are complimentary to your eye color.
3.Wear well fitting clothes
It's not too uncommon to have photos taken after you lost a good amount of weight (or sometimes the opposite) This isn't an excuse to wear overly tight or baggy clothing. Clothes do not look good on you when they are hanging on to you, or when the clothes are so tight you see bulging lines. Always choose to wear tailored outfits to show your physique accurately.
